Sharing is my sustenance. My life happens to be full of interesting people, reality-show-worthy dating drama, and delicious events set against the backdrop of the greatest city in the world.

Welcome to LEXICON (get it? aLEXIs? Think critically, team). It’s a chronicle of diary entries about the cool sh*t I get to do, close friends-level life updates, and all the material items I’m currently lusting after.

Basically, it’s what I’m firing off to my group chats, just all in one place. Enjoy.

LEXICON Word of the Week: Reckoning

🗽Diary of a Young, Gifted & Black Woman🗽

NYC Alexis is BACK, and I can honestly say better than ever.

This week marked my official return to Brooklyn. I accomplished the impossible: moving without a boyfriend. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND! Closer to my Miley Cyrus level toned arm goals, sure, but my Oura ring readiness score has been sub 70 all week.

However, to reward me for my heavy lidting, the city welcomed me back with several delicious moments:

  • Got to see my favorite artists (besides Beyonce) Majid Jordan live at Le Poisson Rouge in Greenwich Village. My first time at the venue, but I would happily return. To my superfan’s delight, they even played their original EP, and I may have found myself a cute boyfriend for the night on the dance floor. Still currently allergic to men (explaining why in a full Tuesday letter later this month about dating men that aren’t as ambitious as me, preamble below) but it was just what the doctor ordered, according to my best friend.

  • Stopped by all of my favorite neighborhood eats - Bagel World for a catch up (got the Hungry Man), Cafe Paulette for a girl dinner (they have the best fries, and it’s allegedly Spike Lee’s go-to spot in Fort Greene), and ThisBowl for a catch up with my friend Jayda who just had the most beautiful wedding as shown in Vogue Weddings (!!!!)

  • Racked up 40,000 steps over the weekend, bopping between Prospect Park, Fort Greene Park, and Brooklyn Bridge Park. I fell in love with my neighborhood all over again, and made a list of a few places I want to try in the area soon - an amazing summer bucket list idea.

  • Attended a Sol De Jainero summer event. Considering I literally bathe in their shower oil and don’t leave the house without layering this scent on, the invite was a highlight. Most influencer events involve small groups of girls with stank faces and filler scanning the room to whether they think you’re worthy of speaking to based on follower count, but this was only half the story for SDJ: they hired dancers to keep the vibes high, had plenty of stations for content creation, an open bar with delicious drinks, and most importantly, FOOD. I let the team know it was one of my favorites. Oh, and the body butter they’re promoting delivers.

the week's highlights <3

Next week, I’ve got a whopping 6 brand events, am speaking on a panel about influencing with Fohr (come by if you want!), and will continue to refine my new working-for-myself routine and update the apartment. Pics soon bc I def need your help.

Now, let’s talk the Wizard Liz breakup, Rhode’s $1B Acquisition, and how I’m re-thinking my summer wardrobe.
