I’m Alexis Barber — founder of Too Smart For This, an editorial platform and media brand for ambitious material girls: women who care about beauty as much as they care about intellect, and are tired of being underestimated for it.

I write this newsletter from New York City, alongside the Too Smart For This podcast — 200 episodes on work, money, identity, and modern ambition, featured in Cosmopolitan and Marie Claire — which became Too Smart for This: A Journal to Build Self-Trust and Stop Settling for Less Than You Deserve, published by Tarcher, an imprint of Penguin Random House. The through-line in all of it: substance will always be in style.

The career so far:

• Content strategy at Google and YouTube, advising senior leadership and top creators on monetization, digital storytelling, and go-to-market.

• Founded and ran a premium loungewear brand that collaborated with Rare Beauty and Bumble.

• An MBA from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, specializing in strategic management.

• Partnered with 70+ brands including Lululemon, Microsoft, and Kate Spade across Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube — and named a Trailblazer by the American Influencer Council.
